Spring Training
It's the start of another intensive year of training. You've just about finished breaking in those new boots and blades, and now the push is on to work out your new programs for the upcoming competitive season. Which means, new music, new choreography, and a huge push to include those more difficult jumps and maneuvers! All of this can lead to some extra bumps, bruises and blisters!

Don't worry - at Dress Wright On Ice we have some things that can help ease the process a little!!

Bunga Pads - if only these had been around when I was young and had to break in new skates - it would have saved a few permanent scars around my ankles! The Ankle sleeves are fabulous! They are a stretchy tensor lined with medicated gel so all the abrasion happens against the tensor and not the skin! They are washable and last at least a year, if not more.

Protective Shorts - Falling is inevitable and the harder you're trying, the more you might fall. The foam padding at the hips and tailbone, help cushion some of blow. They can also give the skater confidence to try even harder and worry less about a few spills along the way.

Spinners - these fabulous "gadgets" are a great off ice training aid. Made of metal with metal ball bearings in the centre, they rotate smoothly and don't slip on the floor. Working with a spinner can help skaters find their centre of gravity for centering their spins more easily. Skaters also use them for practicing backspins, which help with the feeling of rotating jumps. Some skating clubs even offering spin class to their competitive skaters, to help improve both spinning and jumping technique!
