We sharpen skates on site now! They can be done while you wait, Monday – Friday 10:00 – 5:00 pm. For evenings or Saturdays, please call ahead to ensure someone will be available, or you can leave them overnight!
It’s a great time of year to sell your used skates. If you’re looking for used skates check out the Skate Exchange Page from the home page of our website at www.dresswright.com. Or, if you have skates to sell, send an email with all the details to info@dresswright.com and we will post it, at no charge, on the Skate Exchange Page!
There have been
so many people within the extended family of our business that
have been affected by this disease. We are honoured to
participate in this small way to help raise funds to
Find the
Cure. We have two company teams running in the October 2
CIBC Run for the Cure – a 5K or 1K walk or run.
Our goal is to raise
$5000.00, so
your help is greatly appreciated! You can participate by:
Skating Equipment Check List: √ Good quality, well fitted skates, appropriate to height, weight and skill level of the skaters √ Helmet – for Canskaters √ Skate Bag – check out the new colours and designs on our website www.dresswright.com √ Skate Guards – Hard Guards to walk in √ Soft Covers – to absorb the moisture when storing the skates √ Clean cloth or chamois to dry the skates √ Skating Tights, Skating Skirt, Gloves – fashion and function! |
Congratulations to the winners our
ICE PRINCESS DVD contest:
We had some really great comments about what people thought was “Missing in figure skating” from the ICE PRINCESS survey. We would like to share some of these comments with you, over the next several months, and provide a little of our own feedback! Sandra from Sutton West, Ontario “I am a coach and it is so frustrating when skaters come with skates that are too big. Parents want to get more than a year out of their child’s skates and don’t understand that they will not do very well with skates that are too big. I wish there was information on proper skate fittings as well as what to wear at each level of skating. ie. Canskate/competitive” DWOI:We agree with you Sandra! Skates are your only piece of equipment, so they need to be properly fitted to fit properly! This will ensure the success and enjoyment of the skater. Work with a reputable specialty skating store in your area, and check out the archives of our newsletters for tips and help in proper fitting. Breanna from Mackenzie, B.C. “Proper figure skate sharpening in northern B.C. We have to ship our skates to Vancouver, BC for sharpening.” DWOI: Jackson Ultima has come up with a great possible solution for you Breanna. It is a new blade system called Matrix Blade Technology System. The sole plate is a lightweight alloy, which is permanently mounted to the boot, but the runners are removable. You can have more than one set of runners, so instead of having to send your whole skate to Vancouver for sharpening, you can have more than one set of runners, and just send the spare set for sharpening! Click here for more information! Jessica from Mississauga, Ontario “An open mind about who can skate male and female.” Jacy from Windsor, Ontario “Guards that people can’t steal!”
