June 2006 Edition

Style File
The weather’s getting hotter, and so are the new Dress Fashions!  Be sure to check them out in our
online store

Colours to watch for

  • Lime green

  • Corals

  • Turquoise

Also keep an eye out for soft pink colours like  we saw in the Olympics, as well as the traditional black, royal, red, hot pinks, burgundy and purple.

Ladies Unitards are making an important impression.  As we saw during the Ladies and Pairs Short programs at the Olympics and Worlds, they have moved from the realm of practice wear to become highly decorated competition worthy clothing.  It will be interesting to watch the trickle down effect.

Tights – you’ve probably seen the ads in Dance and Skating magazines, but watch for the Mondor “Evolution” Performance Skating tights.  The footed and Over the Boot tights are quick drying, permanent freshness, with an ultra soft matte finish.  The Over the Boot style features new easy release Fastex Buckles.

Summer Skating is Great – not only are you beating the heat in an air-conditioned environment, but also you get to really concentrate on off ice training, including fitness, stretching and dance.

Skirts are great to wear for training because it’s easy to change quickly between your skirt and your shorts for fitness.  Be sure to check out the new hologram box skirts with coordinating tops, as well as the new ruffle skirts – all available at the end of June.

And while you’re picking up the new skirt and tights for skating, be sure to check out the protective shorts, spinners and Maxiflex that will help compliment your summer training on and off the ice!

Skate Fitting

For the month of June, please call (905-282-1555)  for a skate fitting appointment.

Skate sharpening will be available Monday – Friday 10 – 5 but not always on the weekends.

Style Details
– We will never get away from the sleeveless dresses, many more skaters are looking for long sleeve dresses.  While some find them more restricting, others feel they help accentuate beautiful arm movements.

Summer Skate Care Tips

  1. Don’t leave your skates in the hot car.  It’s not good for the leather to have to undergo such extreme temperatures.
  2. Open your skate bag when you get your skates home, to ensure skates have a chance to “air” – we don’t want to be smelly like “those hockey guys!!”
  3. Wash your tights regularly – or better yet – have a few pair to wear so you’re not doing laundry every day!  Remember we offer a frequent buyer card – buy 9 get one free of equal or the lesser value.

Skirts - have taken on new “flare” with various types of ruffles added to the bottom, jagged cut edges or handkerchief points.
