A SECOND AT GOALS       By PJ Kwong

Whether you are or have a beginning skater, or one that has been skating for years, the process at the beginning of the skating season for all skaters and coaches is the same:goalsetting.                                     Once the season is well established and one or 2 test days and/or competitions have passed, it’s time to take a second look at where you are going and have been.  When you started this year, did you have specific test or competition-related benchmarks that you were hoping to meet?                                                                          In examining either the achievement of these milestones or the lack thereof, there are a number of factors that have to be weighed into the equation.  In re-focusing your attention on goal setting take a couple of minutes to look at the following:                                                ATTENDANCE: Were you able to meet the commitment in terms of the time you had set aside to pursue your goal?                                                                            ICE-TIME: Had you set aside enough time to be able to realistically practice and develop the skills needed to meet your goal?                                                         LESSON TIME: Has there been adequate coaching time arranged for your skater in order to be able to use their expertise in being able to achieve your goal?                              ABILITY:  Have you taken a realistic look at your own natural abilities, and likes and dislikes within the sport and the various skills required in order to meet the goals you have set for yourself?                                     EQUIPMENT:  Does your equipment measure up to the physical requirements necessary for you to meet your goal?                                                                   There are as many goals as there are skaters, and in looking at your own goals it is important to be as realistic as possible, and to be patient, as the acquisition of skills in figure skating is not something that will happen overnight.  More than anything, if having fun is not part of the equation, then you may be missing out on one of the most important components of all.

Too Hip                                   to be COOL...

Tired of rolling down the top of your tights?  Introducing “hipster” tights!!  Borrowed from the dance industry, Mondor have brought out a microfiber footed tight that comes to the hip instead of the waist!  They are style number 313, colour Suntan, and available in youth and adult sizes.

Mondor have also revised the cut their very popular box skirt to sit at the hips.  Styles 6S45A and 6S45Y are velvet versions of this popular skirt!  Check it out on line or in the store!

The Solution is Undercover

You’ve picked out a fabulous dress or Ice Show costume with a deep or open back, but what type of lingerie do you wear underneath?  Dress Wright On Ice are carrying 2 great one-piece body liners, both with adjustable and removable clear straps.  One model (6L72) has a thong, while the other model (6L73) has the regular panties.  Both are made of satiny fabric with wicking properties to keep you cool, dry and comfortable.  Either could be a great help under that up coming Grad Dress, too!
