February 2003  Edition

February is here and it can only mean one thing.. L-O-V-E.  The LOVE of Skating.  It's easy to think of all the things that we love about skating.  The way your blade glides over the ice, the wind in your face as you do your warm-up stroking exercises, getting a new dress for test day or competition, landing that jump for the first time that has been eluding you, how you can feel so cold and still be having so much fun, and of course the best thing of all doing the thing you love most with all your friends.  With Valentine's Day fast approaching, why not consider exchanging skating presents with your friends, we have a great selection of things like blade covers, scrunchies,  skate guard key chains and fun little pins and the best news is anything in the store that has on it the colour RED will have a 10% discount!

Testimonial

A picture says a thousand words and we'd like to thank Ashley Cupples of Mississauga, Ontario for sending us this fabulous photo of her spiral along with her great comments about "MaxiFlex"!

The MaxiFlex is really helping me improve my flexibility.  It allows me to practice, off ice, my spin positions (like the Bielman), spirals, spread eagles and splits.  It is, inexpensive, easy to use, and I can take it anywhere.  I am able to practice all my positions without the help of someone else because the MaxiFlex allows me to balance. If you are serious about working on your flexibility, I would highly recommend that you use this equipment.

Sincerely,

Ashley Cupples

P.S. I have included a photo of my spiral, my goal is to get it totally vertical, and with the help of MaxiFlex I know it is just a matter of practice.

Year In Review

It has been six months or so since you started the new season.  Now is the time to take stock of how far you have come in your skating.  By this point in time, a lot of you will have already tried tests and competed in competitions.  Take a look at your equipment and make sure that everything is in order.  Do your skates need sharpening?  Do they still fit?  How about your practice clothes? Perhaps a new pair of pants or a new skirt is in order.  Something as simple as a new tights, new gloves and a new scrunchie for your hair can go a long way to giving your clothes a fresh look.  Most importantly, at this time of year, make sure that not only you take a look at new goals for the rest of the season, but you also take the time to enjoy your recent accomplishments!

Inventory Status

At this time of year, we are between "lines" from suppliers - last year's line is not being produced any more and the new lines are not ready to show yet!  So we apologize for not always being able to ship what you might see "on-line".  We try to delete dresses as they are no longer available, but if we still have certain sizes in stock, the dresses stay up.  Please call us toll free 1-877-396-6423 or email us with your requests and we'll do our best to help or direct you to something similar.

Throughout the months you have been able to click on the word "Edgework" to view the latest "favorite skating moment", or look under "Newsletter" for back issue that you may have missed.

Coming up in 2003, PJ has us anxiously waiting moments from Jamie Sale, David Pelletier, Alexei Yagudin, Sarah Hughes and many more.

So be sure to check back every week!!
